first_imgThere were 40 new coronavirus-related deaths reported Saturday morning across the state, including 10 in Miami-Dade County, three in Broward and four in Palm Beach County. Broward’s cases increased by 389 to 10,837. The county’s death toll is now at 370. Florida is now up to 93,797 total confirmed cases and 3,144 COVID-19 deaths, according to the health department. In the past day, Miami-Dade County’s confirmed cases increased by 704 to 25,080. The county now has 874 deaths, the highest total in the state. Statewide, Florida reports having completed over 1.5 million tests for COVID-19, with 5.9% coming back positive. Palm Beach County’s cases increased by 390 to 10,506, with the death toll at 468. Positivity rates higher The rate of positivity among people tested across Florida has risen sharply in recent days. On Friday morning, 3,822 new cases were confirmed, after 3,207 on Thursday. Florida has confirmed at least 12,774 coronavirus-related hospitalizations since the start of the outbreak. For the third straight day, Florida has set a new daily COVID-19 record, having reported 4,049 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. Statewide, more than 12% of the COVID-19 tests taken Friday came back positive, more than double the positivity percentage from last weekend.
