first_imgCarndonagh will receive a welcome boost this summer with the completion of two very exciting projects for the town, according to local TD Charlie McConalogue. The Fianna Fáil Deputy said the new public park and the resurfacing of the town car park will help encourage greater activity in the town.“It is fantastic to see these important projects finally becoming a reality,” said Deputy McConalogue. “The community has been waiting a long time for the car park to be completed and I am delighted that it’s finally finished. The car park, complete with disabled parking spaces, is located on the Station Road and has pedestrian access to the town at the Heel Bar.  It will go a long way to easing traffic in the area and will be a welcome boost to local businesses as motorists will be able to stop easily and discover what Carndonagh has to offer.”Deputy McConalogue also noted that work is nearly complete on the Barrack Hill project. The 4 acre site will host a public park with children’s playground, cycle track, walking trails, community allotments and a training shed. The park is jointly-funded by Donegal County Council and the Leader programme for rural development and expansion. It was designed by celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin with the help of over 650 local people and groups who were consulted as part of the process.“Once completed our park will be one of the most advanced in the country,” said Deputy McConalogue. “It is particularly exciting for the community as so many people have been involved in this project from the beginning. The years of hard work have finally paid off and everyone should feel extremely proud.“This park will have something for everyone in the community. It will also be a welcome boost for local tourism, with people likely to travel to Carndonagh to experience our fantastic new facilities. “I am delighted to see these two projects finally become a reality. Carndonagh stands to benefit significantly at a time when the town very much need a boost,” said Deputy McConalogue. TD WELCOMES CARNDONAGH FUNDING BOOST was last modified: June 18th, 2012 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:TD WELCOMES CARNDONAGH FUNDING BOOSTlast_img
