first_imgCan’t Pay Won’t Pay spokesperson Micheál Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig has called on Sinn Fein to use Saturday’s water charge protest in Letterkenny to come out against the payment of the charges. He urged Padraig Mac Lochlainn TD to use the opportunity to end Sinn Fein’s “mixed messages on the water charges and come out in favour of a boycott of the charges.”He said, “Knowing Padraig he is very capable of being his own man. While others in the leadership of Sinn Fein have effectively refused to fight the water charges by declaring they will pay them, Padraig has a chance to show leadership when he addresses the crowd on Saturday. “I believe a great many Sinn Fein voters will join the march and are overwhelmingly supporting the boycott. To build the most effective boycott, we need the clear support of all those who are against the charges. I am calling on Padraig to come to our side on Saturday, show leadership and back the boycott campaign.”He added that the momentum is now with the non-payment campaign.“The government are in panic mode and are looking to offer concessions and sweetners to save their skins. But this has only come about through shock at the depth of opposition and the strength of feeling against their charges. It shows that if we stand together we can force them to back down. With massive protests on Saturday and a defiant message that we will not pay, we can demoralise the government and Irish Water further. If we continue to stand together, we can win.”  SINN FEIN SHOULD USE SATURDAY’S PROTEST TO JOIN ANTI-WATER CHARGE CAMPAIGN – COUNTY COUNCILLOR was last modified: October 30th, 2014 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:CampaignletterkennySinn Feinwater chargeslast_img
