Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan gets stay from arrest


first_imgThe Allahabad High Court on Wednesday granted relief to Rampur MP Azam Khan as it issued a stay on his arrest in connection with the cases filed against him by the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh.After the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the senior Samajwadi Party leader has been slapped with over a two dozen cases, including charges of land grabbing in the Mohammad Ali Jauhar University.A Division Bench of Justices Manoj Misra and Manju Rani Chauhan granted him stay from arrest, Deeba Siddiqui, one of the counsels for Mr. Khan, told The Hindu.The legality of all the FIRs was also challenged, she said, adding that the stay was given to Mr. Khan “based on the mala fide intentions” behind the FIRs.last_img
