They okayed it coming through. We were very front row underneath the basket where the players come out. A security guy came over, we’d been there about 30 minutes, and said, ‘I’ve gotta confiscate your sign.’ We thought he was joking. We kind of laughed it off. He said, ‘No, I’m sorry.’ I said, ‘Is it offensive?’ He said, ‘I don’t know.’ I said, ‘Do you even know who Eddie Gran is?’ He said, ‘No.’ He said the athletic director told his boss to come get that sign.”David said he could see McGarity watching the exchange go down and security came back to check their tickets.“He was standing — we watched him because people around him pointed him out. He was standing watching them take the sign. Then, security came over and wanted to check our tickets to make sure that’s where we belonged.”Gran led the Kentucky offense to one of its best years ever as the team finished with a 10-3 record that included a win over Penn State in the Citrus Bowl.Under Gran’s tutelage, running back Benny Snell broke Kentucky’s all-time rushing record and first bowl win since 2008.Georgia reportedly tried to recruit Gran to replace the recently-departed Jim Chaney. But Gran responded by taking to Twitter and re-committing to the Wildcats football team.As for David, he got the last laugh on Georgia as the Wildcats trounced the Bulldogs in a 69-49 win.last_img
